Rother Round 1 WinnersOver the last two weekends, the Hampshire Development Meet has taken place at the new pool in Winchester.

The development meet is aimed at Developing swimmers who have not achieved a County standard on the strokes there are racing at this meet. Eastleigh entered a small team of swimmers who did themselves proud with 23 medals won over the two weekends of racing. A plus point was there was only three DQ swims from our inexperienced swimmers which we will work on in training to address the technical faults. This type of meet is a low-level competition with no pressures aimed at young inexperienced swimmers to help develop their racing experience who may never have raced before at an open meet competition. It is good for the coaches to see swimmers who haven't raced before at an open meet and to recognise the future talents coming through the club.

It was great to see Eastleigh winning one of the relay events in the 13/14 years freestyle relay with Oliver and Isla plus Adam and Ffion E coming out as the event winners.

Individual winners were gold medallists Isla 50m free and 100m back, Oliver 50m and 100m back, plus 50m and 100m free, Amy 50m breast, Ella 100m free.

Silver medallists were Jennifer J 50m breast, Ellis 50m free and 100m IM, Adam 200m free, Bobby 50m and 100m breast, Isla 100m free, Emily B 50m free, plus another relay medal for the 13/14 years medley team of Oliver, Emily S, Isabelle C and Ffion E.

Bronze medallists were Bobby 200m breast and 100m IM , Isla 50m back, Emily R 200m Butterfly and a third relay medal this time for the 9/10 years free as Emily B, Ellis, Emma and Izzy T.

The stats from the three days at the development meet were as follows:-

  • Swims: 94
  • PBs: 62
  • DQs: 3
  • Medals: 23
    • Golds: 9
    • Silvers: 9
    • Bronzes: 5

Well done to everyone involved including Emily Pilton who was coaching poolside at an open meet for the first time and worked so well with the young swimmers.
