Hampshire County Championships 2022

This year saw the first Hampshire County Championships for two years and Eastleigh Swim Club did not disappoint.

We managed to take 54 swimmers along 41 of which qualified for 156 individual races. We had 47 finals appearances with 31 medal winners, of which there were 9 Gold, 7 Silver and 15 Bronze medals!

There was 119 individual PBs! At this competition you are going up against the best in the county and with so many large clubs around us these statistics are amazing. In 2020 we managed a medal haul of 21, so to increase it this year by 10 is outstanding.

We came away with 4 Hampshire County Champions:

  • Freddie S - Boys Age 16 50m Fly
  • Isabella H - Girls Age 15 100m Breast
  • Megan T - Girls Age 13 400m Individual Medley, 400m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 200m Fly
  • Alex G - Boys Age 10/11 50m Breast, 100m Breast, 200m Breast

With the decision to not allow spectators at either Portsmouth or Winchester it was important for the team to get behind the swimmers, and watching it live streamed on TV you could clearly hear Eastleigh Swim Club as our swimmers were introduced and raced.

We had 26 Relay teams this year with some exciting races with our Girls 12-14 years Medley team grabbing a Bronze medal.

For lots of swimmers it was their first competition at this level and we hope that you enjoyed it and it inspires you to push on to qualify next year, for those that just missed out this year, next year is your year!

Despite our Head Coach Paul being unable to attend due to recovering from an operation, he watched every race from his comfy bed and had this to say..

“I’m really pleased with the progress of the club across so many different age groups and events”
