Eastleigh's Junior swim team roared into action in an exciting and noisy Novice Gala in Winchester on Saturday evening.

Cheered on by their teammates and with proud parents on their feet in the galleries, our competitors from Junior 2, Junior 3 and Pre-Club squads took part in freestyle, medley, woggle and giant float relays and individual freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke races against swimmers from from Winchester Penguins (x3 teams), Andover and Bishop's Waltham.

Lots of fun was had by all the swimmers and it was great to see them jumping for joy at their teammates' successes and punching the air after doing well in their own events. It was also great to see the good sportsmanship of swimmers from all teams applauding rivals whose youngest swimmers had shown great determination and effort just to reach the finish of their events.

The Eastleigh team at the event was Emily, Eilidh, Evan, Veronika, Keir, Freya, Alistair, Will, Alice, Anton, Sara, Toby, Hamza, Callum, Immy, Alzbeta, Jennifer, Eve, Alex S and Alex G. For many of the team, this was their first competitive swimming event and they showed lots of courage and ability to swim so well in front of so many spectators. All our swimmers should be very proud of their achievements.

Congratulations from the coaches to our swimmers for their attendance and especially the way they swam and looked after each other. It was a great team performance and we are sure had the organisers have been awarding points for the races, Eastleigh would have won the gala. Thank you to all parents, grandparents and siblings for their support and cheering of our team.
