Eastleigh Performance Squad members, Freddie and Adam, took part in the Swim Wales Winter National Short Course Championships last weekend in Swansea.

Having taken part in the Summer Championships earlier this year, Freddie had previous experience at this level and familiarity with the standard of competition at the event. Competing in four events, Freddie did magnificently to set personal bests in all four of his races. Particularly impressive was his 200m butterfly, taking 12 seconds off the PB he'd set at the County Championships earlier this year and finishing in 10th place with a time of 2:29.78. This puts Freddie fifth in the all-time list of Eastleigh SC swimmers in the 200m butterfly, a fingernail ahead of current coach, Adam Robinson, and second only to George in our current swimmers. Freddie also set PBs in his 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly, continuing the consistent improvement he's shown in these events in recent months.

For Adam, it was his first time at this level of competition and he qualified for two events. In his first event, the 50m freestyle, Adam swam strongly to achieve his third fastest time ever. In the 50m backstroke, Adam swam even more impressively to break his personal best by over half a second, setting a new mark of 38.48. Importantly for Adam, he managed to finish one position higher than his entry seeding and he was delighted to report this achievement and his progress to his coaches on his return to Eastleigh.

Well done to both boys. Its really great to see our swimmers competing at this level of event and swimming such fast times.
