In an amazing show of stamina and determination, our distance swimmers set excellent new personal bests and broke club records at the Solent Distance Meet in Portsmouth just a day after some of them raced in our Arena League contest.

Top of the club record breakers was Freddie who, in his first ever 800m race, smashed an amazing 59 seconds off the previous 13/under club record with a time of 10:04.96.

In the girls 13/under age group, Rhyseren took another 8 seconds off her own club record, winning the silver medal in a time of 10:02.29. Verity took an excellent bronze medal in the same event with a time of 10:11.13, taking 21 seconds off her short-course PB and finishing just a fraction off the previous club record.

In the boys 11/under age group, Matthew was our first ever 1500m freestyle competitor and won the bronze medal with a time of 21:38.23, setting the inaugural club record for this age group.

Other swimmers that swam excellently to break or set their personal bests in the 800m freestyle were Zoha (5 second PB), Amy (set PB 9 seconds inside her entry time), Fraser (set PB 34 seconds inside his entry time) and Adam (set PB 55 seconds inside his entry time). Also swimming well but just a fraction outside their PBs were Sophie and Isaac. Not only was Sophie close to her 800m best, but she was also close to her 200m and 400m best times en route! Isaac was just a second off the PB he set at Hart a few weeks ago having been slightly ahead of PB pace at half-way.
