Havant and Waterlooville Fun Gala – 4th September 2021
At the weekend some of our younger team members travelled to Waterlooville for a fun gala against Havant and Waterlooville (x2), Fareham Nomads and Winchester City Penguins swimming clubs. This was our first away gala against other clubs for over a year and a half and the young swimmers did the club proud.
Although there may not have been places awarded, Eastleigh came first in almost all of their races which was amazing, especially since this was the first time some of these swimmers had raced in a gala.
The event was for swimmers aged between 7 and 12 where they raced in some usual 25m and 50m races on each stroke plus medley and freestyle relays, but the gala also had them racing in surfboard, push ball and big float races and relays. This made for a very entertaining night for all the swimmers!
Every single one of the swimmers who raced did incredibly well and were all cheering and encouraging each other the whole way through the gala. I was very impressed by all the swims and very grateful for all the swimmers who had to stand up and race in extra events that they hadn’t originally expected to be doing.
The Eastleigh team at the event was Hamza, Julianna, Bobby, Alex G, Poppy, Emilia, Josh, Elliot, Alex S, Ella, Alzbeta, Veronika, Amy, Ben, and Evan. Well done to all the swimmers.
Finally, a massive thank you to the team managers for helping organise the team and parents for cheering on the swimmers!
