Winchester Mad May Sprints Report

First let me apologise for not writing this sooner, however here is the report and break down of this meet!
I really want to thank Jodie for looking after our swimmers at Winchester for this meet and all the Team Managers and Parents who helped the swimmers and get them there.
This meet was one of those rare events that allowed a large number of swimmers from the club to compete together at the same meet. All ages were there, allowing them to race all the 50m and 100m events and it allowed a lot of our younger swimmers to swim and record their first official times for their chosen races. We had a total of 175 swims over 3 sessions including some very impressive swims and PBs, where swimmers dropped large amount of seconds from 100m and 50m events, which isn’t the norm! This just shows again how much our swimmers have developed, grown and improved over the course of this season.
We also brought home a number of medals of varies colours! What was also very pleasing, is that some of our medal winners were first timers to Open Meets, let alone winning medals. So I would like to congratulate all our swimmers, but also the following swimmers who won these medals.

- Oliver R – Gold in the 15 years.
In total we got 13 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals, 24 medals in total.
What really does make me feel very proud and enthuses me as your coach is the number of PBs we recorded and I include those of you who recorded their first official time for a particular event. As mentioned we had a total of 175 swims, we recorded 124 PBs. That means 71% of our swims were PBs which is incredible! This is a true credit to you all, and I do mean all of you, and shows the strength and depth we have in this club. This strength and ability can take us forward for the future and with all of your support I hope to build this club and our swimmers even further, along with the amazing coaching team we have.
