Head Coach Update May/June
13 Jul 2026
Apologies for the delay in providing the Head Coach report. May and June have been extremely busy months for everyone involved with Eastleigh Swim Club.
South East Regional Championships
May began with our older swimmers competing at the South East Regional Championships in High Wycombe over the first May bank holiday weekend.
The swimmers showed great determination throughout four demanding days of competition, achieving personal bests, medals and a number of excellent performances.
The following weekend saw the second part of the South East Regional Championships for swimmers aged under 14. Once again, there were some fantastic swims from everyone who competed. For several swimmers, this was the largest competition they had attended, and they handled the experience extremely well.
Everyone who competed across the regional weekends represented Eastleigh Swim Club with pride. It was particularly encouraging to see the swimmers supporting one another before, during and after their races.
Hampshire Talent Swimming Programme
At the end of May, Matt Boyd-Wallis, Oliver Rutherford and I attended the Hampshire Talent Swimming Programme.
Eastleigh swimmer Sammy Scott was selected to take part in the programme, which provided another valuable opportunity for his continued development.
June Open Meets
During June, swimmers competed at two open meets.
The first took place at the Salisbury Open Meet, followed by the Rushmoor Royals Open Meet during the third weekend of June.
All swimmers competed extremely well. We are beginning to see the additional skills and technical areas being worked on in training reflected in competition performances.
Thank you to all the team managers and officials who volunteered their time at these events. A particular thank you goes to everyone who supported the club during the Rushmoor Royals weekend, when conditions were extremely hot.

Eastleigh Swim Club Masters had a fantastic day at the Marlins Masters Meet on 7 February 2026, finishing joint second overall. A big well done to everyone who raced, supported and helped make it such a positive team effort.
Eastleigh Swim Club Masters swimmer Kate Steels has taken on one of her most ambitious challenges yet – completing a 21.5km swim from Baltimore to Fastnet Rock in Ireland, with hopes of setting a new ladies' record.
